At the meeting on the 10th january the Parish Council set the precept for 2012-13 at £29750.This is an increase of 9.3% over this year but only 5.5% over the precept in 2010-11,as we reduced the precept £1000 this year. This increase amounts to £1.60 per elector, per annum.
The Parish Council took this decision reluctantly but with the significant cutbacks at District and County level ,sources of funding for local community projects and initiatives have been removed.
In this financial year the Parish Council ,in addition to the regular grants and donations to local bodies of nearly £6750, has or will spend:-
£2660 on repairs to the bus stop near Oak tree stores
£1500 on the Youth Club in Plaistow( as County withdrew funding)
£750 contribution to the cost of new chairs at Kelsey hall
£1650 contribution to redecoration of Winterton hall
£650 for a new noticeboard at Shillinglee.
At our November meeting we invited representatives of local bodies and organisations to outline the financial support they would like in 2012-13 hence the decision to increase our precept. The Parish Council is committed to supporting local community initiatives which we believe play a valuable role for the Parishioners.Any organisation can make an application for support for funding from the Community Reserve or Village Maintenance Funds.
