What we do

The Parish Council

There are about 8700 Parish and Town councils in England serving 30% of the population as the most direct tier of government. Parish Councils have wide powers in law which are governed by the 1972 Local Government Act and subsequent legislation.

The aim of the Parish Council is to provide and maintain community facilities, represent parishioners views to other local authorities and to guide the development of the Parish to the benefit of the residents whilst preserving its’ historic character.

The Parish council comments also on any planning application, provides feedback to County Highways on remedial work required to Local public roads and works proactively on local issues such as social housing needs, flooding, speeding and youth services.
